GANYE DPO RALLIES TRADITIONAL RULERS, SECURITY AGENCIES, YOUTH LEADERS TO COMBAT CHILD ABDUCTIONS

CSP Mohammed Y. Nuhu Declares Zero Tolerance for Criminals, Warns Against Jungle Justice

GANYE, Adamawa State — In a bold and proactive move aimed at restoring public confidence and strengthening security across Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Mohammed Y. Nuhu, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, convened a high-powered stakeholders’ security meeting to develop a coordinated strategy against the growing menace of child abductions and missing children in the area.

The strategic security meeting, held at the Ganye Divisional Police Headquarters, brought together an unprecedented coalition of traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, youth representatives, transport unions, hunters, and civil society stakeholders, reflecting the seriousness with which the Nigeria Police Force is responding to the disturbing incidents.
Among those invited were the District Head of Ganye, Alhaji Aminu A. Sanda; all Village Heads within the local government; the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Sani Yahya; the PCRC Legal Adviser, Barrister Abdurahman Njidda; leaders of various youth groups and associations; hunters’ leaders; representatives of the Muslim Council; the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ganye Chapter; the Chairman of the Commercial Motorcycle (Okada) Association; the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ganye Branch; the Officer-in-Charge of the Department of State Services (DSS); and the Officer-in-Charge of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among other critical stakeholders.
Addressing participants, CSP Mohammed Y. Nuhu stressed that the security of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of the Police, assuring residents that every available resource would be deployed to track down criminal elements responsible for child abductions and other security threats.
The DPO explained that the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, transport unions, hunters, and youth groups to prevent any further incidents of child abduction or mysterious disappearances within Ganye and its surrounding communities.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or persons to security agencies, emphasizing that effective policing depends on timely and credible information from members of the public.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the DPO’s strong warning against jungle justice. While acknowledging the anger and frustration of residents over recent incidents, CSP Nuhu cautioned members of the public never to assault, lynch, or kill any suspect arrested in connection with criminal activities.
According to him, any suspect apprehended should be immediately handed over to the Police for proper investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law. He stressed that taking the law into one’s own hands could obstruct justice and expose innocent persons to harm, insisting that only the courts have the constitutional authority to determine guilt or innocence.
Community leaders who attended the meeting pledged their support to the Police, promising to intensify vigilance in their respective communities while encouraging residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.
The meeting was widely described as one of the most comprehensive security engagements in recent times in Ganye, bringing together virtually every key stakeholder to forge a united front against criminality.
Residents have continued to commend CSP Mohammed Y. Nuhu for his fearless, professional, and community-oriented approach to policing. Many described him as a courageous officer who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, expressing confidence that his leadership will further strengthen security across Ganye Local Government Area.
As concerns over child abductions continue to generate anxiety among residents, the renewed partnership between the Police, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth organisations, transport unions, hunters, and sister security agencies is expected to enhance intelligence gathering, improve community policing, and ensure that criminals have no hiding place.
The message from the Ganye Divisional Police Headquarters was clear: criminals will be pursued relentlessly, justice will prevail through due process, and the safety of every resident—especially children—remains a top priority.
