Mubi, Adamawa State — In what many political observers are already describing as a defining moment in Adamawa’s political landscape, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has formally embraced mounting calls from stakeholders across Northern Adamawa to contest for the Northern Senatorial seat after the completion of his tenure, pledging to continue his service to the people at the national level.
The declaration came amid a rousing reception in Mubi, where political leaders, traditional stakeholders, party loyalists, and supporters from across the five local government areas of the zone gathered in a show of solidarity and confidence in the governor’s leadership.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Fintiri described the overwhelming endorsement as both humbling and historic, saying the appeal by the people was a clear testament to the confidence they have in his administration and its developmental strides.
“I consider this call a great honour and a sacred responsibility,” the governor declared. “The trust the people have shown in me will never be taken for granted. By the grace of God, we will continue to serve with dedication, sincerity, and unwavering commitment.”
The governor attributed the growing clamour for his Senate bid to the transformative projects executed under his administration, particularly in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, institutional reforms, and rural development, which he said have significantly improved the living conditions of citizens across the state.
Political analysts believe the development may further reshape the political equation in Northern Adamawa, as Fintiri’s acceptance has already ignited excitement among supporters who see his possible emergence in the Senate as a continuation of his leadership influence beyond Government House.
Speaking on security, the governor reassured residents of the Northern Zone that his administration would not relent in restoring peace and rebuilding communities devastated by insurgency activities in previous years.
He recalled the devastating Boko Haram attacks that ravaged parts of the zone between 2014 and 2015, stressing that remarkable progress has since been achieved through sustained reconstruction, resettlement, and security collaboration.
Fintiri vowed that the gains recorded in stabilizing affected communities would be consolidated, promising continuous partnership with security agencies and community leaders to guarantee lasting peace and development.
In his remarks, Senator Amos Yohanna said the endorsement of the governor was borne out of deep conviction and extensive consultations with stakeholders across the senatorial district.
According to him, the call for Fintiri to move to the Senate transcends politics, insisting that the governor possesses the experience, courage, and leadership capacity needed to effectively champion the interests of Northern Adamawa at the national level.
He also appealed to politicians and supporters to embrace issue-based and peaceful political engagement, particularly in communities battling security challenges.
Also lending his voice, Honourable Wakili Boya described the governor’s endorsement as “well deserved,” noting that Fintiri has distinguished himself through purposeful governance and people-oriented leadership.
The high-profile gathering attracted top government functionaries, political appointees, youth groups, women organizations, elders, and thousands of supporters, all of whom reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to ensuring the success of the governor’s anticipated senatorial ambition.
With chants of solidarity echoing across the venue, the event ended on a triumphant note, signaling what many now see as the beginning of another major political chapter for Governor Fintiri in Adamawa State politics.
