MAIHA ROARS FOR CONTINUITY AS JINGI BELEL PICKS APC FORM FOR SECOND TERM

By Usman Umar Girei

Yola, Adamawa State — The political atmosphere in Maiha Constituency came alive with renewed momentum and celebration as the Member representing Maiha in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Ahmed Jingi Belel, officially obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to seek a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development, which has already sparked jubilation across communities in Maiha Local Government Area, is being widely interpreted as the formal launch of a powerful continuity movement driven by the lawmaker’s growing grassroots popularity, visible constituency projects, and people-oriented leadership style.
Supporters, party loyalists, youth groups, women associations, and political stakeholders who accompanied Hon. Jingi Belel to the APC secretariat in Yola described the moment as a “victory for continuity and development,” insisting that the constituency cannot afford to halt what they called a “transformational legislative journey.”
Political observers say the crowd that thronged the APC secretariat reflected the deep acceptance the lawmaker currently enjoys among the people of Maiha, with chants of solidarity and endorsements dominating the atmosphere.
Since his emergence into the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Jingi Belel has steadily built a reputation as a grassroots politician deeply connected to the aspirations of ordinary people. His first term has been marked by active constituency engagement, open-door leadership, and relentless advocacy for projects aimed at improving the welfare of rural communities.
Across the wards of Maiha, residents point to numerous interventions credited to the lawmaker, including the facilitation of rural road rehabilitation projects, support for schools through the distribution of learning materials, youth empowerment initiatives, and consistent efforts to address healthcare challenges affecting vulnerable communities.
Community leaders and youth stakeholders who spoke during the form collection ceremony praised the lawmaker for maintaining constant contact with the people rather than disappearing after elections.
“Honourable Jingi Belel is not the type of politician who remembers the people only during campaigns. He has remained accessible and committed to our welfare. That is why the people are insisting he must continue,” a youth leader from Ward 4 declared.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, Hon. Jingi Belel said his decision to seek re-election was inspired by the overwhelming calls from constituents and the urgent need to consolidate on ongoing developmental initiatives already started across Maiha.
According to him, abandoning the current momentum midway would amount to slowing down the pace of progress already being witnessed in the constituency.
“The people of Maiha have spoken loudly and clearly. They want continuity, stability, unity, and sustainable development. I cannot ignore the trust and confidence they have reposed in me. This mandate must be consolidated for the greater good of our people,” he stated.
The lawmaker further highlighted his role in strengthening political unity within Maiha, especially amid the recent wave of political realignments and defections into the APC. He maintained that peace, cooperation, and collective political direction remain critical ingredients for attracting meaningful development and federal presence to the area.
Party stakeholders in Adamawa State have equally described Hon. Jingi Belel as one of the APC’s most dependable grassroots mobilizers in the Northern Senatorial District, noting that his influence has continued to strengthen the party’s structure in Maiha while reducing internal political tensions.
Women and youth groups present at the event pledged massive support for his re-election bid, commending him for promoting inclusion and giving young people and women greater participation in governance and empowerment programmes.
Several speakers recalled how the lawmaker facilitated agricultural support initiatives for farmers ahead of planting seasons and ensured that women benefited from various skill acquisition and economic empowerment programmes designed to improve livelihoods.
Political analysts believe Hon. Jingi Belel’s early move to secure the APC nomination form strategically positions him ahead of potential challengers, particularly at a time when the party appears more united in Maiha than in previous election cycles.
Observers further argue that his combination of legislative experience, grassroots accessibility, constituency projects, and alignment with broader state and federal development priorities has significantly boosted his political standing ahead of 2027.
As the political temperature gradually rises toward the next general election, many residents of Maiha say the contest is no longer merely about politics, but about sustaining a leadership they believe has brought government closer to the people.
Closing his remarks, Hon. Jingi Belel assured constituents that a second term would usher in expanded developmental projects, including improved primary healthcare services, increased rural electrification, potable water supply, enhanced educational support, and stronger efforts to attract federal interventions into Maiha.
He called on the people to remain united, peaceful, and steadfast in their support for the APC, emphasizing that collective unity remains the surest pathway to lasting progress and democratic dividends in the constituency.
