Priscilla Philip rallies women behind Haske, hails APM governorship candidate as young, energetic and intellectually equipped to transform Adamawa
A fresh wave of political realignment has swept through Ganye Local Government Area, as Priscilla Philip, immediate past Ward Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally resigned from the party to join (APM), pledging her continued loyalty to Walin Ganye.
In a resignation letter dated September 23, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ganye Local Government Area, Priscilla announced her immediate withdrawal from the ruling party, relinquishing her position as Ward Women Leader and closing a significant chapter of her political career.
Her exit marks the beginning of a new political journey, one she says will be built on continued mentorship under Walin Ganye, a figure she regards as her political father.
Priscilla was quick to dispel any notion that her departure was born of impulse or grievance. She described it instead as the product of careful reflection, deep personal conviction, and a sober reassessment of where her political future truly lies. In her letter, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the APC leadership and membership for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging the experience, relationships and lessons she gathered during her tenure.
Beyond her personal defection, Priscilla Philip issued a passionate appeal to women across Ganye II Ward and the wider Ganye Local Government Area, urging them to identify with the APM. She expressed confidence that the party offers a stronger platform for women’s participation and advancement in Adamawa State’s political landscape.
She reserved special praise for the APM’s governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, describing him as a young, energetic, intellectually sound and selfless politician whom she believes possesses the vision and capacity to reposition Adamawa State.
Haske, who defected from the APC and emerged as the APM’s governorship candidate on September 12, has since unveiled a broad policy agenda spanning agricultural transformation, infrastructural development, education, healthcare, economic empowerment and accountable governance — themes that appear to be resonating with grassroots politicians like Priscilla Philip.
Despite the political shift, Priscilla struck a conciliatory note towards her former party, extending goodwill to APC leaders and members and expressing hope for continued peace, unity and development in Ganye.
Her defection adds her name to a growing list of political figures gravitating towards the APM ahead of the keenly anticipated 2027 governorship contest, and casts fresh light on the shifting party loyalties taking shape across Adamawa’s southern senatorial district — particularly the increasingly visible role of women in grassroots political mobilization.
