20-Year-Old Allegedly Masterminds Armed Robbery Against His Mother and Siblings — ₦200,000, Phones Stolen; Weapons, Suspected Hard Drugs Recovered

YOLA, ADAMAWA — In a case that has stunned residents of Wuro Kuturu, Jimeta, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man on allegations that he conspired with two accomplices to rob his own mother and siblings in their family home.
The arrests followed a distress report filed by the mother, who told police that three armed men stormed the residence around midnight and made away with cash and valuables.
According to police, the raid took place in the early hours of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Wuro Kuturu, Nassarawo, Yola North Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations identified the victim’s own son, Aminu Adamu, 20, as the alleged mastermind, working alongside Adamu Mamman, 22, and Nuhu Umar, 22 — all residents of the same neighborhood.
Police say the trio forced their way into the home and made off with ₦200,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and a power bank.
Operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command tracked down and arrested all three suspects on Thursday, September 17 — just two days after the alleged break-in. A follow-up search recovered a knife, pliers, scissors, quantities of suspected hard drugs, and suspected Indian hemp, deepening the mystery around the young men’s activities.
Police say the suspects made confessional statements during interrogation, and the case has been forwarded for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, has ordered a thorough probe and directed that the suspects face diligent prosecution once investigations conclude. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property statewide, urging residents to stay alert, secure their homes, and report suspicious activity promptly.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
