Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed Charges Newly Turbaned Chiefs to Rule with Justice, Unity and Uncompromising Service to the People

A wave of celebration swept through Ganye Chiefdom as ten newly turbaned District Heads stepped into their historic roles, drawing warm commendation from the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the International Peace Commission, Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, Walin Ganye, who described their emergence as a defining moment in the storied history of the traditional institution.
The ten traditional rulers were formally turbaned in a colourful and deeply symbolic ceremony at the Ganye Palace, presided over by the Gangwari Ganye, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda, OON, whose leadership Walin Ganye praised as instrumental in reinvigorating the chiefdom’s administrative structure.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Walin Ganye extended his warmest felicitations to the new District Heads, urging them to see their new positions not as mere titles of honour, but as sacred trusts and solemn responsibilities to the people they now serve.
“Traditional leadership remains one of the strongest pillars of peace, unity, community development and social cohesion — especially at the grassroots, where governance touches lives most directly,” he noted, underscoring the enduring relevance of the institution in nation-building.
He commended the Gangwari Ganye for his foresight in entrusting these responsibilities to capable hands, expressing full confidence that the experience, wisdom and dedication of the new District Heads would translate into greater stability, cohesion and progress across their respective domains.
Walin Ganye did not mince words in charging the newly turbaned leaders to govern with justice, humility and fairness, insisting that their palaces and their hearts must remain open to every member of their communities — regardless of background, status or political leaning.
He further emphasized the critical importance of peaceful coexistence, calling on the traditional rulers to forge strong working relationships with community stakeholders, security agencies, religious leaders, women and youth groups in pursuit of development and lasting harmony.
Beyond governance, he urged them to become custodians of Ganye’s rich cultural heritage while championing bold initiatives to uplift education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and the overall wellbeing of their people.
