Group Urges NDC Presidential, National Assembly Candidates to Close Ranks With Support Groups

NUMAN, ADAMAWA STATE — The Numan Local Government Chapter of the Grassroots Alliance Movement, a prominent support group advocating the presidential ambitions of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in Adamawa State, has called on the Presidential and National Assembly flag bearers of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to strengthen collaboration with various support groups ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The call followed an extraordinary stakeholders’ meeting held in Numan, the headquarters of Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

In a communiqué signed by the Local Government Coordinator of the Movement, Mr. Lawrence Wesley, the group urged the NDC leadership and its candidates to begin early preparations to harness the potential of support groups and individuals in order to build effective grassroots structures capable of influencing voters and strengthening confidence in the party’s candidates.
The chapter specifically called on the NDC leadership at the local government level to accelerate the development of a workable campaign strategy that would accommodate groups and individuals sympathetic to the Obi/Kwankwaso political agenda.

The communiqué disclosed that the Numan chapter has constituted coordinators across all 10 wards in the local government, while arrangements for the appointment of unit coordinators are reportedly 80 percent complete.
According to Wesley, the growing popularity and acceptance of the NDC candidates have made the Movement’s grassroots mobilisation campaign increasingly receptive and meaningful, particularly among rural communities.
He stressed that the various support groups must work together under a coordinated coalition structure with leadership that reflects the composition of the groups.
Such a structure, he said, would enhance effective coordination, representation and execution of campaign activities across the grassroots.

The Numan chapter also resolved to commence consultations and engagements with the NDC National Assembly candidates with a view to supporting their emergence as winners in the 2027 political contests.
The Movement urged its members to demonstrate commitment, endurance, discipline and sacrifice if the organisation is to achieve its political objectives.
Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting, the Head of Media and Publicity, Comrade Stanley Mijah, who represented the State Coordinator of the Movement, Mr. Joshua John Emmanuel, urged participants to uphold integrity and demonstrate strong commitment in carrying out responsibilities assigned to them.
The Movement said sustained grassroots mobilisation, unity among support groups and early strategic engagement would be critical to building the political momentum required ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
