When construction activities on the Jada–Mbulo–Ganye Road slowed down in recent months, critics were quick to declare the project dead. Political opponents seized the opportunity to ridicule the Federal Government’s commitment to the people of Southern Adamawa, while many residents became anxious over the apparent delay.
But behind the scenes, one man refused to surrender to pessimism.
Widely regarded as one of the foremost pillars of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, Walin Ganye, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the International Peace Commission and a revered elder statesman, continued to pursue the realization of the project with quiet determination. Known across political divides as a seasoned political strategist and influential leader, Walin Ganye remained steadfast in his belief that the Federal Government would fulfil its commitment to the people of Ganye Chiefdom.
His confidence has now been vindicated.
In what has been widely welcomed as a major boost for infrastructure development in Adamawa State, the Federal Ministry of Works has officially reaffirmed that the 44-kilometre Jada–Mbulo–Ganye Road remains an ongoing Federal Government project under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The confirmation came through the Adamawa State Controller of the Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Dimas Tuwai, who, in an interview with Punch Newspaper (Arewa Punch), disclosed that the Tinubu administration has approved road projects worth over ₦156 billion across Adamawa State while listing the Jada–Mbulo–Ganye Road among ongoing federal road projects in the state.
The clarification effectively puts to rest speculation from some quarters that the project had been abandoned because of the temporary interruption in construction activities.
Supporters of Walin Ganye say the development reflects the rewards of patient leadership, strategic engagement and consistent advocacy. According to them, while others resorted to political attacks and social media campaigns over the temporary stoppage of work, the elder statesman remained focused on engaging relevant authorities to ensure that the project remained on course.
Although construction experienced delays, those familiar with the project maintain that the interruption resulted from operational challenges rather than the cancellation of the contract. The latest confirmation by the Federal Ministry of Works reinforces that the road remains firmly on the Federal Government’s infrastructure agenda.
The Jada–Mbulo–Ganye Road is considered one of the most strategic roads in Southern Adamawa. Upon completion, it is expected to significantly improve transportation, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, stimulate commercial activities, reduce travel time, and strengthen economic integration between Jada, Mbulo, Ganye and neighbouring communities. Residents believe the road will also improve access to healthcare, education and other essential services, bringing long-awaited economic opportunities to thousands of people.
For many residents, the renewed federal assurance is not merely about road construction; it is a symbol of hope, perseverance and responsive leadership. It also underscores the importance of sustained advocacy in attracting and protecting developmental projects for underserved communities.
As work gradually resumes and expectations rise once again, many in Ganye Chiefdom see the Federal Government’s reaffirmation as proof that persistence often triumphs over doubt. They remain optimistic that the long-awaited road will soon be completed, transforming lives and unlocking new economic opportunities across the region.
