YOLA – The Adamawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has celebrated another milestone in its campaign against illicit drug trafficking and abuse, as it formally decorated newly promoted officers and men, charging them to justify their elevation through greater commitment, discipline and exemplary service to the nation.
The colourful decoration ceremony, held at the NDLEA Barracks in Yola, attracted senior officers of the Agency, family members, friends and well-wishers who gathered to witness the recognition of distinguished personnel whose dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment earned them promotion to higher ranks.
The event was marked by excitement, applause and emotional moments as the newly elevated officers proudly received their new insignia, symbolising not only career advancement but also increased responsibility in the nation’s relentless fight against drug-related crimes.
Among the officers honoured was Assistant Commandant of Narcotics (ACN) Nachifia Abraham, who was officially decorated following her promotion from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN) to Assistant Commandant of Narcotics (ACN).
Addressing the gathering, the Adamawa State Commander of the NDLEA, Aliyu Abubakar, congratulated all the promoted officers, describing the occasion as a testament to the Agency’s commitment to rewarding hard work, dedication and excellence.
He reminded the officers that promotion goes beyond the privilege of wearing a higher rank, stressing that it represents a greater burden of leadership, accountability and public trust.
“Promotion is not merely an elevation in rank; it is an increase in responsibility. The expectations of the public and the Agency are now much higher. I therefore urge every promoted officer to justify this confidence by demonstrating greater professionalism, integrity, discipline and commitment in the discharge of your duties,” he said.
The Commandant noted that the Adamawa State Command, alongside other commands nationwide, benefitted significantly from the recent nationwide promotion exercise approved by the management of the Agency, describing the gesture as a morale booster for officers and men.
He further applauded the visionary leadership of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), for implementing far-reaching reforms that have transformed the Agency, enhanced staff welfare and improved operational efficiency across the country.
According to him, the welfare-driven policies introduced under General Marwa’s administration have continued to inspire officers to remain steadfast in the Agency’s mission of combating drug abuse, illicit trafficking and other narcotics-related offences.
Speaking shortly after her decoration, the newly promoted Assistant Commandant of Narcotics, Nachifia Abraham, expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful elevation, describing the promotion as a significant milestone and another remarkable chapter in her professional journey.
She thanked the leadership of the NDLEA for recognising her dedication and hard work, pledging to rededicate herself to the Agency’s mandate with renewed determination.
“I am sincerely grateful to Almighty Allah and to the leadership of the NDLEA for finding me worthy of this promotion. This new rank comes with greater responsibilities, and I am fully prepared to give my best in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. I see this as a challenge to serve my country with even greater dedication and professionalism,” she stated.
The newly promoted officer also paid glowing tribute to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), for what she described as his exceptional leadership and transformative reforms that have repositioned the NDLEA into a more efficient, motivated and result-oriented institution.
She prayed for divine wisdom, strength and continued success for the NDLEA Chairman as he leads the Agency towards greater achievements in safeguarding Nigeria from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
The ceremony concluded amidst celebration and goodwill as family members, colleagues and friends congratulated the beneficiaries, describing their promotions as well-earned recognition of years of sacrifice, dedication and exemplary service.
Many attendees expressed confidence that the newly decorated officers would continue to uphold the core values of the NDLEA and contribute significantly to strengthening the Agency’s ongoing war against drug trafficking and substance abuse, thereby enhancing national security and protecting future generations.
