SHAME OF A FATHER: Adamawa Man Admits Impregnating Own Daughter, Pleads Guilty to Incest

GANYE, ADAMAWA STATE – In a harrowing tale of betrayal and depravity, a middle-aged man has been remanded in custody after confessing to the unthinkable: impregnating his own teenage daughter and subsequently attempting to terminate the pregnancy. The Upper Area Court No. 1, sitting in Ganye Local Government Area, on Monday the 13th of July 2026 ordered the detention of one Jediel Sylvester, a man whose paternal duties grotesquely morphed into a campaign of terror and sexual abuse against his own flesh and blood.

Presiding Judge Hon. Kabiru Musa showed no leniency as he remanded the accused, who shocked the courtroom by pleading guilty to the heinous charges levied against him. The prosecution, led by Counsel Abdulrahman Njidda Esq., brought the case before the court under Section 111 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Adamawa State, 2018, acting on a direct criminal complaint filed by the victim and her uncle.

The case, registered as No. UACG/NO1/CR/FI/113/26, has sent ripples of outrage through the quiet community of Ganye. The first complainant, Mohammed Audi—the victim’s uncle and brother to the defendant’s wife—delivered chilling testimony that exposed the depths of Sylvester’s moral collapse. According to court proceedings, the nightmare began to unravel when the victim, a minor, complained to her father that her menstrual cycle had ceased. Suspecting foul play, the father escorted her to a medical professional, only to be dealt a devastating blow: the girl was already three months pregnant.

What followed was a grotesque attempt to cover up the atrocity. When the father pressed his daughter to name the perpetrator, she refused to name anyone—because, as she later revealed, there was no other man. The only person who had forced himself upon her was the very man standing before the court. Sources close to the investigation revealed that Sylvester, in a desperate and reckless move, suggested aborting the pregnancy. But medical practitioners swiftly warned him that the gestation had advanced too far—three months—rendering any attempt at termination perilously dangerous.

The court was left in stunned silence as the second complainant—the victim herself—bravely took the stand. In a voice trembling with pain and courage, she recounted how her father would routinely beat, coerce, and intimidate her into submission before subjecting her to repeated sexual assaults. Her testimony painted a portrait of a household ruled by fear, where a father’s love was replaced by predatory lust.

The complainants argued that Sylvester’s actions amount to a trifecta of grave criminal offences: incest, criminal intimidation, and assault—violations strictly prohibited under Sections 367, 382, and 242 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State. When the charges were read and interpreted to the defendant in clear terms, he did not flinch. He admitted guilt, chillingly attributing his monstrous behaviour to mere “lust.”

As the gavel fell and Sylvester was led away to the correctional facility, the community now grapples with a haunting question: how many more secrets lie behind closed doors? The case has been adjourned for further hearing, but for the young victim, the scars—physical and psychological—will linger far beyond any court’s judgment.
