Katsina Government Confirms Tragic Loss, Vows Relentless Fight Against Insecurity
KATSINA, June 13, 2025 — A wave of grief has swept across Katsina State and the nation following the tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who passed away while being held captive by bandits.
The Katsina State Government announced the heartbreaking development on Friday, describing the late military officer’s death as a devastating blow not only to his family but also to Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to the government, the retired General died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension during his period in captivity, despite sustained efforts by the state government and security agencies to secure his freedom.
In an official statement, the government expressed profound sorrow over the loss, noting that every available avenue had been explored to ensure the safe return of the respected elder statesman and distinguished military veteran.
