POLITICAL TSUNAMI HITS GANYE AS NDC SWEARS IN EXECUTIVES AMID MASS DEFECTION

Ganye Local Government witnessed a dramatic political awakening on Thursday as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) formally inaugurated its Local Government and Ward Executives in a grand ceremony that many political observers have described as a major turning point in Adamawa’s evolving political landscape.

The historic event, held at the Puksum Multipurpose Hall on May 7, 2026, attracted party faithful, stakeholders, youths, women groups, political mobilizers, and supporters from across the local government area. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, jubilation, and renewed political hope as loyalists who recently defected from the ADC to the NDC under the leadership of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani solidified their new political identity.

The gathering began on a solemn and spiritual note with opening prayers offered by both Christian and Muslim clerics, symbolizing unity, peace, and religious harmony among party members.
Delivering the welcome address, Hon. Hamisu, Chairman of the MRR and one of the principal architects behind the political realignment, described the event as “the birth of a new political era” in Ganye and Adamawa State at large. He applauded party leaders and grassroots mobilizers for their sacrifices, resilience, and determination in ensuring the successful establishment of the party structure across the local government.
According to him, the growing acceptance of the NDC within the grassroots is a clear indication that the people are yearning for purposeful leadership, inclusiveness, and political direction.

In a highly emotional and confidence-boosting speech, the Chairman of NDC in Ganye Local Government, Hon. Adamu Gombe — a seasoned grassroots politician widely respected for his political experience and influence — declared that the party has come to stay.
After observing all necessary protocols, Hon. Gombe jokingly remarked that “he who laughs last, laughs best,” a statement that triggered thunderous applause and laughter across the overcrowded hall.
He disclosed that he had already taken his oath of office before the State Chairman of the NDC in Yola and had now officially received approval to inaugurate the newly elected ward and local government executives.
Hon. Gombe commended Hon. Hamisu and other stakeholders for what he described as “uncommon commitment and political courage” in ensuring that the executives emerged successfully and assumed office without rancor.
The oath of office was administered by Barrister Aliyu Awara Danburam, who conducted the swearing-in exercise with clarity and professionalism, charging the new executives to remain disciplined, loyal, and committed to the ideals of the party.

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout as the venue became overstretched due to the massive crowd that flooded the hall. Even passersby reportedly stopped to catch a glimpse of the unfolding political spectacle, while chants, applause, and songs of solidarity echoed throughout the venue.
Speaking at the occasion, the Assistant State Secretary of the NDC and party leader in Ganye, Hon. Emmanuel Dominic — a former Vice Chairman of Ganye Local Government and ex-Councilor renowned for his grassroots political influence — praised Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani for what he described as her “bold and timely political decision” to leave the ADC for the NDC.
Hon. Dominic stated that Binani’s movement was not merely personal but a strategic step taken to protect the political future of her supporters and loyalists across Adamawa State.

He asserted that the ADC had lost political direction and hope, insisting that the NDC now represents the new destination for progressive politicians and the masses.
In a passionate mobilization speech, he urged every party member to return home and bring at least seven new members into the NDC fold, confidently declaring that the movement from ADC to NDC had already delivered over 54,000 supporters into the new party structure.
“By simple political calculation,” he declared, “the NDC is already building an unstoppable electoral force ahead of future elections.”
Amid cheers and laughter, Hon. Dominic also advised members to promote peace and unity within their families and communities, humorously telling supporters to “go home and apologize to their wives because women are now the true leaders of the home.”
He concluded his remarks with fervent prayers for the success of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, expressing optimism that she would emerge as the next Governor of Adamawa State.

In a symbolic move aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots machinery, registration books were officially distributed to all Ward Chairmen with directives to immediately commence membership registration exercises across their respective wards.
Goodwill messages were delivered by both Local Government and Ward Executives, all of whom pledged loyalty, unity, and unwavering commitment toward building a formidable NDC structure capable of reshaping the political future of Ganye and Adamawa State.
The event ended on a triumphant note, leaving attendees with a strong sense of political rebirth, renewed confidence, and anticipation of bigger political developments ahead.
