In every community, there comes a moment when gratitude must stop being a whisper and become a movement. For the people of Ganye Chiefdom, that moment has arrived, and its name is Team Wali.
Team Wali is more than a political support group. It is a rallying point for those who believe that leadership is a trust, that sacrifice deserves remembrance, and that a people who forget the wisdom of their elders risk losing the compass that guides their future. Inspired by the mentorship, philanthropy, political experience and community service associated with Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, Walin Ganye, the movement has set out six clear aims.
1- Honouring the Past
At the heart of Team Wali is a simple conviction: elder statesmen who gave their time, resources and energy to the land must not be forgotten. The movement seeks to restore the dignity and honour of these leaders, and to document and celebrate their sacrifices, mentorship and selfless service, so that present and future generations know whose shoulders they stand on.
2- Standing With the Present
Team Wali will rally behind credible leaders and stakeholders whose vision and experience are directed at the welfare of the people. It will also hold those leaders to account, urging transparency, integrity and policies that turn political office into real benefits for communities.
3- Serving the Grassroots
Leadership means little if it does not reach the market woman, the struggling family, the jobless graduate and the patient who cannot pay a hospital bill. Team Wali commits to humanitarian service and empowerment, and to advocacy for roads, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and the fair distribution of development opportunities across communities.
4- Empowering Through Education and Enterprise
The movement will promote scholarships, digital literacy and skills acquisition, and support entrepreneurship, vocational training and agriculture. The goal is a generation of youths and women who are self-reliant, productive and equipped to lift Ganye out of poverty.
5- Building a Bridge Between Generations
Team Wali will bring elder statesmen and young people into a shared space of mentorship, dialogue and knowledge transfer. Through it, the experience of one generation becomes the strength of the next, leadership continuity is preserved, and tomorrow’s leaders are prepared for responsible public service.
6- Uniting for Peace and Inclusive Participation
Team Wali promotes loyalty, solidarity and discipline among its members, and builds organised grassroots structures that encourage civic awareness and issue-based politics. It advocates fair and inclusive representation for all communities and stands for peaceful coexistence across political, ethnic and religious lines, placing the collective good of Ganye above personal differences.
7- A Movement With a Purpose
Together, these aims rest on one philosophy: honour the past, support the present, build the future. Team Wali invites every son and daughter of Ganye, young and old, to join a movement that celebrates selfless service and works for a stronger, more united and more prosperous Ganye Chiefdom.
