ADAMAWA UNDER FIRE: TROOPS CRUSH TERRORIST ASSAULT ON FOB GARAHA, KILL SIX

Insurgents Flee in Disarray as Soldiers Hold the Line in Hong LGA; Six AK-47 Rifles, Machine Gun Recovered

HONG, ADAMAWA STATE – Nigerian troops have shattered a bold terrorist attack on a military base in Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and seizing a cache of weapons and ammunition as the surviving attackers fled the battlefield.
The assault, which reportedly took place on Monday, October 12, 2026, targeted Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha in Hong Local Government Area. But the soldiers stood their ground. After a fierce exchange of fire, they launched a determined counteroffensive that forced the attackers into retreat.

According to information released by the military, six of the insurgents were neutralised in the confrontation. Troops recovered six AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, assorted ammunition and other military equipment believed to have been used in the attack.
The military says the troops’ resistance prevented the attackers from overrunning the base, a outcome that marks another significant engagement in the long campaign against insurgency in the North-East.

The attack comes amid continuing operations against suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters. Security forces have kept up the pressure, working to disrupt terrorist movements, recover weapons, protect vulnerable communities and deny insurgents any foothold.
The clash at Garaha underlines the strategic value of military formations in communities exposed to persistent threats, particularly in parts of Adamawa bordering areas affected by insurgency. It also reinforces the need for sustained vigilance, sharper intelligence gathering, close cooperation among security agencies, and timely tips from residents who spot suspicious movements.

Despite the victory, the incident is a stark reminder that terrorism remains a serious concern for Adamawa residents. For affected communities, the priorities are clear: protecting lives and property, safeguarding public infrastructure and sustaining confidence in the ability of security forces to stop further attacks.
Military authorities have urged continued vigilance as operations against insurgents proceed across the North-East. The weapons and ammunition recovered at Garaha could also help weaken the operational capacity of terrorist groups.
As the security situation evolves, residents will be watching closely for further developments and for assurances that measures are being strengthened to prevent a recurrence.
