ADAMAWA STATE – The political landscape in Adamawa State has shifted as former All Progressives Congress (APC) officials formally defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and pledged their support for the party’s governorship candidate, Abdulrahaman Bashir Haske.
The defectors subsequently paid a courtesy visit to prominent political stakeholder and elder statesman, Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, the Walin Ganye, in a show of solidarity and appreciation for his contributions to the development of his chiefdom.

The delegation, accompanied by retired Justice Ambrose Mammadi, visited the Walin Ganye amid the latest realignment of political stakeholders in the state.
According to the defectors, their decision to rally behind Abdulrahaman Bashir Haske was driven by his qualities and fitness for the state’s highest office. They described him as a young, energetic and intellectually sound leader whose international business exposure equips him with the vision, competence and global networks needed to attract investment, create opportunities and move Adamawa State forward.
They expressed confidence that his blend of youthful vigour, sound intellect and business experience makes him well placed to deliver the new direction the people of the state are seeking.
Their departure comes amid ongoing political realignments in Adamawa State, with the APM attracting former members and stakeholders from the party that controls power at the federal level.
Because the defectors once held zonal and local government leadership positions, the move carries particular significance in the state’s evolving political landscape.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, the defection adds another dimension to the shifting alliances in Adamawa’s State.
