Gun, Bows, Arrows, Swords Recovered as 232 Battalion Operatives Make Breakthrough in Hong
HONG, ADAMAWA — Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 232 Battalion, working in collaboration with local hunters, have arrested two suspected terrorists in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State following actionable intelligence.
The operation, according to a Facebook post attributed to Tajudeen Bamidele Ayeni, resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Hyema Luka and 47-year-old Hyellaki Manasse, who are now reportedly in military custody for further investigation.
One of the suspects, Luka, was allegedly abducted from his farm and subsequently forced into the ranks of an insurgent group. He was reportedly tracked down while receiving medical treatment for a gunshot wound he allegedly sustained in late 2025.
Military personnel and the local hunters reportedly recovered a cache of locally fabricated weapons during the operation, including firearms, bows and arrows, and swords.
The arrests are being seen as another significant step in ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist and insurgent activities in communities across Adamawa State.
The operation also underscores the growing importance of collaboration between conventional security forces and local community-based security actors, whose knowledge of difficult terrain and remote settlements can provide crucial intelligence during counter-terrorism operations.
Security analysts have repeatedly emphasized the value of community intelligence in tackling insecurity, particularly in rural communities where residents and local hunters possess detailed knowledge of the terrain and movement patterns.
The latest operation in Hong therefore highlights how military capability, actionable intelligence and local knowledge can combine to strengthen community security.
The two suspects remain in military custody as investigations continue, while security authorities are expected to establish their identities, affiliations and possible links to wider criminal or insurgent networks.
The development comes as security forces continue efforts to prevent terrorist and criminal elements from establishing footholds in vulnerable communities across the North-East.
