JAMB SOUNDS FINAL WARNING: AUGUST 31 DEADLINE LOOMS FOR CANDIDATES WITH PENDING ADMISSIONS

Candidates with outstanding offers from 2020–2025 admission cycles face forfeiture if they fail to act

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a fresh and decisive warning to candidates with unresolved admission offers from previous admission cycles, directing them to accept or reject the offers on or before August 31, 2026, or risk losing the opportunity.
The directive, which has sent a wave of urgency through the Nigerian admission landscape, affects candidates with pending admission offers dating back to the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 admission cycles.
JAMB, in a warning circulated through its official communication channels, said candidates who have not yet responded to outstanding offers must take immediate action through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The development is particularly significant for thousands of prospective undergraduates who may have secured admission but failed to complete the acceptance process, perhaps because of uncertainty, institutional delays, personal circumstances or hopes of securing admission into another institution.
But with the new deadline fast approaching, JAMB has made it clear that indecision could come at a heavy price.

Under the directive, affected candidates are expected to log into their JAMB profiles and check their admission status on CAPS.
Those who are satisfied with their offers are expected to accept the admission, while candidates who do not wish to proceed with the offer may reject it.
The crucial point, however, is that candidates are expected to make their decision before the August 31 deadline.
Failure to respond could leave an admission offer unresolved and potentially expose the candidate to forfeiture.
The warning has therefore transformed what might previously have appeared to be an administrative formality into a matter of urgency for affected candidates.

The latest intervention is aimed at clearing a backlog of admission offers that have remained unresolved across several admission cycles.
Rather than allowing old admission offers to remain indefinitely on the system, JAMB is now compelling affected candidates to make a definitive choice.
The measure is also expected to help institutions and the admission management system maintain more accurate records of candidates who have accepted offers and those who have decided to pursue other opportunities.
For candidates, however, the message is simple: check your CAPS profile and make your decision before the deadline.

For some candidates, an outstanding admission offer could represent a long-awaited breakthrough after years of attempting to secure university or tertiary education.
For others, the offer may have been overtaken by another admission, a change of institution or course, or personal circumstances.
Whatever the reason for the delay, JAMB’s latest position means candidates can no longer afford to leave such offers unattended.
Education stakeholders have consequently urged affected candidates to verify their admission status directly through the official JAMB platform rather than relying on unverified messages circulating on social media.

The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) remains central to JAMB’s admission process, providing candidates with access to their admission status and the opportunity to respond to offers.
Candidates who have pending offers are therefore advised to log into their profiles, carefully review their admission information and take the appropriate action before the deadline.
With August 31, 2026 fast approaching, the warning from JAMB carries a clear message: an admission offer left unanswered may soon become an opportunity lost.
For thousands of candidates caught between accepting, rejecting or simply ignoring previous offers, the countdown has begun.
August 31 is not merely a date on the calendar—it is the deadline that could determine whether some long-awaited admission offers are secured or forfeited.
