The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR has taken to his official Facebook page and announced via the press statement that the Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on criminal activities, arresting a 26-year-old suspect in Kano State and recovering a stolen 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport valued at approximately ₦18 million.
The dramatic operation followed a distress report from the vehicle’s owner, who told police that he had entrusted the car to Mohammed Dan-Azumi, 26, a resident of Girei Local Government Area, for routine washing. Instead of returning the vehicle, the suspect allegedly disappeared with it, leaving the owner devastated.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Yola, launched a coordinated manhunt that stretched beyond Adamawa State. Their intelligence-driven operation eventually tracked the suspect to Kano State, where he was arrested and the stolen vehicle recovered intact.
Police authorities described the operation as another testament to the Command’s growing capacity to combat sophisticated criminal activities through intelligence-led policing and interstate collaboration.
The suspect is currently in police custody as detectives intensify investigations. Authorities confirmed that he will be arraigned before a competent court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, fdc, praised their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to duty.
The Police Commissioner reiterated the Command’s unwavering resolve to rid Adamawa State of criminal elements and assured residents that anyone involved in criminal activities would be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
He also urged members of the public to continue partnering with the police by providing timely, credible, and actionable information that would aid in preventing and combating crime across the state.
