Thousands of Employees Across 21 LGAs to Benefit as Governor Orders Payment of Statutory Entitlements
YOLA, June 18, 2026 — In a major boost to workers’ welfare and grassroots governance, Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the implementation of a new salary structure for Local Government workers across the state, bringing their remuneration in line with approved national standards.
The approval paves the way for the full implementation of the ₦70,000 national minimum wage and other salary adjustments for workers under the Harmonized Administrative Salary Structure (HASS), the Medical and Health Salary Structure (MLJSS), and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
The landmark decision is expected to bring relief to thousands of workers in the state’s 21 Local Government Areas, easing economic pressures while enhancing morale, efficiency and service delivery at the grassroots.
In another significant move aimed at strengthening local governance, Governor Fintiri also directed the payment of statutory entitlements to elected Local Government executives, underscoring his administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency and improved financial administration at the council level.
The development has been widely welcomed by workers and stakeholders, who described the new salary package as a timely intervention in the face of rising living costs and a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to the welfare of public servants.
