APC ON THE BRINK IN ADAMAWA AS ‘GHOST PRIMARIES’ SPARK FURY

Fresh political tension has engulfed the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State after the party announced winners for its House of Representatives primaries amid stunning allegations that no elections were actually conducted.
The dramatic development has sent shockwaves across the party structure, with aspirants and stakeholders openly rejecting the announced outcomes and branding the process a “ghost primary.”
The APC state chapter had on Sunday unveiled names of candidates expected to represent the party in the forthcoming general elections. However, the announcement immediately ignited protests from party members who insist that delegates never voted in several constituencies.
The allegations have exposed deep cracks within the APC, as accusations of candidate imposition, manipulation, and abuse of internal party mechanisms continue to trail the exercise.
“What happened cannot be called a primary election,” an aggrieved aspirant declared. “There was no accreditation, no voting, no counting — yet winners emerged. It is unacceptable.”
The controversy has since created an atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust within the party, with many grassroots supporters expressing disappointment over what they described as the collapse of internal democracy.
Some party loyalists fear the crisis may worsen in the coming days as more aspirants prepare to challenge the outcome through petitions and possible court action.
Analysts say the scandal threatens to overshadow the APC’s preparations for the general elections and could hand political advantage to rival parties if not urgently resolved.
Behind closed doors, party leaders are reportedly making frantic efforts to calm tensions and prevent a total breakdown of unity within the state chapter.
But with emotions running high and accusations flying from different camps, the APC in Adamawa now faces a fierce internal storm that could shape the political future of the party in the state.
