The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, 9th March, 2026, confirmed three commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in a move widely seen as a step toward strengthening governance and accelerating development across the state.
The nominees confirmed by the lawmakers are Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Engr. Muhammed Suleiman (Mubi North LGA), and Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA).
Their confirmation followed a thorough screening exercise during plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Bathiya Wesley.
The motion for their confirmation was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, representing Demsa Constituency, and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa, who represents Jada/Mbulo Constituency.
After deliberations and voice votes by members, the House unanimously approved the nominees. The Speaker thereafter directed the Clerk of the Assembly to formally communicate the resolution of the House to Governor Fintiri for the necessary action.

Earlier during the screening session, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa, while speaking on the nominee from Jada Local Government Area, Hon. Chubado Mohammed, described him as a seasoned administrator with vast experience in the federal civil service.
According to him, Chubado has demonstrated remarkable commitment to public service and community development, particularly within the Ganye Chiefdom and beyond.
He stressed that appointing him into the state executive council would add immense value to the administration, noting that his wealth of experience and leadership qualities would contribute meaningfully to the progress of Adamawa State.
Jidjiwa also commended Governor Fintiri for what he described as a wise and strategic nomination.
“Hon. Chubado Mohammed is a man of integrity and experience whose contributions to society are widely acknowledged. Giving him the opportunity to serve will greatly benefit Adamawa State,” the Deputy Speaker told the House.

Similarly, when Engr. Muhammed Suleiman, the nominee from Mubi North Local Government Area, appeared before the Assembly, members representing Mubi North and Mubi South constituencies—Hon. Paul Samuel and Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro—commended the governor for the choice.
The lawmakers described Suleiman as a competent technocrat with the capacity to deliver results, expressing confidence that he would contribute significantly to the state’s developmental agenda.

Observers say the confirmation of the nominees signals Governor Fintiri’s continued efforts to consolidate governance and inject fresh expertise into the state’s executive council.
Political analysts believe the appointments, once inaugurated, will further reinforce the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and accelerated socio-economic development across Adamawa State.
