President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Nigerian Muslims and the global Islamic community as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, assuring citizens that the long-promised dawn of renewed hope and national prosperity is finally breaking.
In a statement released on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the President described the sacred festival as a powerful reminder of the values that must shape the Nigerian journey—sacrifice, devotion, unity, and unwavering hope.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim Ummah as we celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir,” President Tinubu stated. “This period, the peak of the holy first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, invites us to embrace worship, perform good deeds, and reflect on the endless mercies of Almighty Allah upon us as individuals and as a nation.”
More than a religious event, Tinubu underscored the profound civic message of Eid-el-Kabir, calling on Nigerians to recommit to national unity, compassion, and resilience in the face of adversity. “The true significance of this celebration lies deeper than festivities—it challenges us to embody sacrifice and selflessness in our daily lives,” he said.
The President reassured citizens that despite the tough road traveled, the vision laid out two years ago is beginning to materialize. “Together, we have endured hard times. There were doubts, yes, but we remained focused. Today, I can say confidently that the darkest hours are behind us. We are entering the new era of renewed hope and prosperity I promised.”
Acknowledging the ongoing challenges in the economic landscape, Tinubu urged Nigerians not to relent. “We may not yet be where we wish to be, but do not lose hope. Our reforms are gaining momentum, and critical economic indicators are finally shifting in the right direction. The benefits, though gradual, will be felt by all.”
He emphasized that his administration’s policies are not just about numbers, but about improving lives. “There are no magical solutions. But we are laying down the foundations for a sustainable and inclusive economic revival—one that places the people at the centre,” Tinubu declared.
“As we continue to implement these bold reforms, know that they are not driven by politics but by a deep-seated commitment to restore the dignity and potential of the Nigerian people,” he added.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President said, “This agenda was designed not just to uplift statistics but to elevate lives. Prosperity must not be for the few—it must touch every corner, every community, and every citizen of Nigeria.”
In a compassionate turn, President Tinubu also addressed the recent flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed lives and devastated livelihoods. “Let us remember and pray for those affected by the tragic flooding on May 28. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their loved ones find strength. We must unite to bring them relief and rebuild what was lost.”
He concluded with a patriotic call to prayer and solidarity. “Let us use this sacred moment to pray for our soldiers, our leaders, and our nation. Let us seek divine guidance for peace in our troubled world. Eid-el-Kabir teaches us to love and give—values we must carry in our hearts, not just today, but always.”
As Nigerians across the country gather in celebration today, Friday, June 6, the Federal Government has declared Friday and Monday (June 6 and 9) as public holidays to mark the occasion.
In Tinubu’s words: “This is not just Eid. This is a turning point. Nigeria’s renewal is underway—let us march forward together.”
