In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and support, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has donated N30 million to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari, a gallant officer who paid the ultimate price in the battle against Boko Haram insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.
The donation was personally presented to Lt. Col. Alari’s widow on Saturday in Maiduguri, reinforcing the governor’s unwavering commitment to honoring those who lay down their lives for peace in Borno State and Nigeria at large.
> “Yesterday, we sent a high-level delegation to his funeral, but I felt the need to personally extend my condolences on behalf of the government and the people of Borno,” Zulum stated.
He expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and extended his condolences to all military personnel who have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism.
> “We recognize the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers. Lt. Col. Alari did not own a personal home, so this donation is intended to help his immediate family secure a house. Beyond this, we will continue to stand by the families of our fallen heroes, ensuring they are not forgotten,” Zulum added.
The presentation was witnessed by top military officials, including the Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shuaibu, and Sector 2 Commander, Major General Chieiebere Ejike. Also present were Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, House of Representatives members Engr. Bukar Talba and Ahmed Jaha, as well as senior state government officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr. Babagana Malumbe, and Brigadier Gen. Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security.
This move further cements Governor Zulum’s legacy as a leader who stands firmly behind the gallant men and women risking their lives to protect Borno State and Nigeria from terrorism. His promise of continued support to the families of fallen soldiers highlights a new era of recognition and appreciation for military personnel dedicated to defending the nation.
