Last Minute Commissioning: Party Chieftain Exposes Former Gov’s Evil Intent. Stanley Mijah

The last minute commissioning of uncompleted multiple projects by the ousted Darius adminssistration has been described as a deliberate ploy to alter public perception of the reality of his failure and to jeopardize the development agenda of the Agbu’s new administration.

Speaking to Pioneer in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, the former acting chairman of the People Democratic Party PDP in the state, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari said that the commissioning of the uncompleted projects by the former Governor, Architect Dickson Darius Ishaku have grave consequences on the people of the state and the new administration, emphasizing that the situation has the capacity of creating rift between the new administration and the handlers of the uncompleted projects, and possible public aparthy on the new government if it fails to meet public expectations on the handling of the excesses of previous government.

According to him, the commissioning of uncompleted projects like, the dual carriage way, the DDI Garden Housing Estate, the Urban Water Reservoir and some road constructions among others by the ousted administration was highly deceptive, criminal and a complete rape on the psyche of the people of Taraba state.

He however expressed confidence in the capacity of Dr. Agbu Kefas with his towering antecedents to meticulously resolve the administrative and development setbacks the state has been plunged into by previous administration including the leadership crises of the party in the state.

He further described as unfortunate the glaring primitive promotion of individual interest above party interest by the Darius administration by brazenly violating party constitution and administrative procedures in leadership succession of the party when the office of the chairman of the party was declared vacant with the exit of Dr Agbu to occupy the most exalted office in the state.

According to him, as a matter of official procedure, the office of the chairman of the party is elective and should be occupied by the deputy chairman during event of any vacancy and not by appointment as demonstrated by the former governor of the state.

He said the appointment of Alhaji Abubarkar Bawa to replace Dr. Agbu Kefas when an elected deputy chairman already exist was a clear indication of interest and an action motivated by an insatiable desire to create anarchy and crises within the party hierarchy and membership in the state.

Inuwa maintained that the past government has been bedraggled with controversies of uncompleted projects, inter-ethnic conflicts, insecurity, suffocating debt burden and financial misappropriation which the new administration has to contend with.

He said it will require wisdom and unwavering resolve by the Agbu’s administration to tackle the overwhelming controversies precipitated by maladministration of then previous government as evidenced by Jukun- tiv violence, Karimjo -Wurkun hostilities and the Kuteb -Jukun -Fulani prolong and unmitigated conflicts in the state.

The party chieftain advised the new Agbu’s administration to be more focused and avoid the temptation of hasty application of strategies to provide solutions to the crippling problems of the state in the name of satisfying the shallow expectations of 100 days in office.

He therefore called on party members and the entire Taraba population to exercise patience and to resist the temptation of mounting too much pressure on the Agbu’s administration because of the effect of the bottled up expectations of the past administration.
