FINTIRI IGNITES REVOLUTION, KARDU DELIVERS MASTERSTROKE: GANYE COLLEGE FULLY TRANSFORMED, SET FOR ACCREDITATION

Ganye, Adamawa State — In a landmark achievement that has redefined the future of tertiary education in Adamawa State, the Provost of the Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye, Chief Aminu T. Kardu, has completed a comprehensive transformation of the institution—positioning it firmly for accreditation and academic expansion.

Backed by the visionary leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the once-overlooked college has undergone a total rebirth after more than 35 years of neglect, emerging as a modern, multi-disciplinary institution with cutting-edge facilities and expanded academic scope.

In a bold and strategic move, Governor Fintiri approved the change in nomenclature of the institution—from a narrow monotechnic structure to the broader College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye—a decision aimed at unlocking wider academic opportunities.

Kardu explained that the previous structure limited the college’s growth and relevance.
“For the college to remain a monotechnic, it was going nowhere. The change in name has given us a broader platform to introduce more courses and expand academically,” he stated.
He further revealed that plans are already underway to establish a Medical Laboratory Department immediately after accreditation—signaling a new frontier in the college’s academic journey.

To meet strict accreditation requirements of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Provost established two functional meteorological stations:
A Digital Meteorological Station for advanced research and student practicals
An Analog (Manual) Weather Station for teaching purposes, equipped with minimum and maximum thermometers
“These facilities are critical. Anywhere NBTE goes, they must inspect meteorological stations,” Kardu emphasized.

Kardu’s administration also revolutionized the college’s agricultural base, ensuring students gain practical exposure across diverse areas.

In the livestock unit:

The previous reliance on only White Fulani cattle has been expanded to include
Red Bororo
Adamawa Gudali
Muturu (short-horn breed)

He also introduced:

Piggery units
Rabbitry units

“These additions are essential. Accreditation teams always question institutions with limited species. Now, we are fully equipped,” he noted.

In a major boost to the Fisheries Department, the Provost expanded operations with the establishment of modern fish ponds—now stocked with over 6,000 fingerlings.
This development is expected to enhance practical learning, research capacity, and food production initiatives within the institution.

The massive upgrade project, approved in 2025 by the Adamawa State Executive Council, has now been fully executed. It includes:

Complete remodeling and renovation of structures
Construction of a modern administrative complex
Laboratories, classrooms, and a screen house
Facilities for large and small ruminants
Landscaping and campus beautification
Provision of office furniture
Perimeter fencing and external infrastructure.

A visit by The Pioneer correspondents confirmed that all projects have been completed, with the institution now awaiting accreditation.

Kardu did not mince words in praising Governor Fintiri’s intervention:
“For over three decades, this college was ignored. Many administrations came and went without recognizing its potential. It is Governor Fintiri who changed the narrative and gave this institution a new life.”

Across Ganye and beyond, stakeholders have hailed the transformation as unprecedented—crediting the synergy between Governor Fintiri’s vision and Kardu’s indefatigable execution.
Indeed, what stands today in Ganye is more than just a renovated institution—it is a symbol of purposeful leadership, strategic investment, and a bold commitment to the future.
As accreditation beckons, one message rings loud and clear:
Ganye College has risen—stronger, broader, and ready to lead.
