MAULID CELEBRATION STRENGTHENS PEACE, UNITY, DEVELOPMENT — SHEIKH MUHAMMAD BASHIR

By Usman Umar

The Khalifa of Modibbo Ibrahim Daware, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir, has reaffirmed the vital role of Maulid celebration in fostering peace, unity, moral discipline, and socio-economic development across Nigeria, urging Muslims to sustain the revered tradition for the greater good of society.
Sheikh Bashir made this call while addressing journalists during the Maulid celebration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) held at the residence of Modibbo Ibrahim Daware in Daware, Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to the respected Islamic leader, Maulid celebrations go beyond spiritual remembrance, serving as a powerful platform for promoting peaceful coexistence, faithfulness, blessings, and collective development within communities.
“The celebration of Maulid in our communities strengthens peace, enhances development, deepens faith, and attracts divine blessings not only to Adamawa State but to Nigeria as a whole,” Sheikh Bashir stated.
He acknowledged the existence of security challenges in parts of the country but maintained that Nigeria remains one of the nations still enjoying relative peace and harmony, stressing that unity among citizens is the strongest weapon against instability.
“Unity is the backbone of every meaningful development anywhere in the world. Without unity, progress becomes impossible,” he emphasized.

The Khalifa used the occasion to express profound appreciation to individuals who have continuously supported the Maulid celebration through advice, moral backing, and financial assistance. He particularly commended the member representing Fufore Local Government in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Barrister Ismail Umar, and Alhaji Bashir Sulaiman Ribado for their unwavering support.
Speaking on leadership and succession, Sheikh Bashir revealed that he was appointed General Khalifa of Modibbo Ibrahim Daware by Sheikh Hafiz Umar, noting that leadership within the Modibbo Daware lineage is rooted in consultation, respect, and responsibility.
“Leadership in our household is based on trust and consultation. My younger brother, Umar Khalifa Darika, always consults me before taking decisions within his department,” he explained.
He further called on the Muslim Ummah to remain steadfast in preaching peace, tolerance, and unity, describing these values as the true teachings of Islam and the legacy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Maulid celebration attracted eminent Islamic scholars and dignitaries, including Sheikh Abubakar Almiskin, Sheikh Umar Fotihati, Sheikh Hussaini Jub, and Sheikh Ahmadu Tayaude. The clerics jointly offered prayers for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.

They also urged the Modibbo Daware family to sustain the annual Maulid celebration, describing it as a noble tradition that strengthens religious consciousness and social harmony.
The event concluded on a note of renewed commitment to peace, unity, and spiritual growth, reinforcing Maulid as not only a religious observance but a catalyst for national cohesion and development.
