ABUSE OF DRIVER’S OFFICE IN GANYE LGA: A FACEBOOK ALLEGATION THAT DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY

This publication/write-up circulating on Facebook, published by Mohammed Bello Mangla, raising serious concerns over the alleged abuse of the Driver’s Office in Ganye Local Government Area.
In the post, the writer alleged that Mujahid Faruk Mohammed should be held responsible for the destruction of an official vehicle belonging to the Ganye Local Government Council. According to the claim, Mujahid Faruk Mohammed is neither the official driver to the Council Chairman nor an authorized driver of the local government, thereby questioning the legitimacy of his access to the government vehicle in question.
If established, such an action would amount to a serious breach of administrative protocol and misuse of public property, issues that strike at the heart of transparency and accountability in local governance. Government vehicles are public assets meant strictly for official duties and should only be operated by duly authorized personnel.
While the allegations are weighty, it is important to emphasize that they remain claims originating from a social media post and, as such, must be treated with caution. Nonetheless, they raise legitimate public interest concerns that warrant immediate and transparent investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The people of Ganye Local Government Area deserve clarity on how public assets are managed and safeguarded. A thorough inquiry would not only establish the facts but also help restore public confidence in the administration. Where wrongdoing is proven, those found culpable should be sanctioned in line with the law.
The Facebook post by Mohammed Bello Mangla serves as a reminder of the growing role of social media in civic engagement and whistle-blowing. However, it also reinforces the responsibility of authorities to respond promptly and responsibly to issues brought into the public domain.
