Security operatives storm Balma village hideout, bust kidnapping syndicate in coordinated raid
The Adamawa State Police Command has scored a major breakthrough in its sustained war against kidnapping and other violent crimes, with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the recovery of dangerous weapons and criminal items in Song Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command disclosed that on 24th January, 2026, operatives attached to the Song Divisional Police Headquarters, working in close collaboration with local hunters, acted on credible intelligence and carried out a swift, coordinated raid on a notorious criminal hideout located in a remote area of Balma Village, Song LGA.
The operation led to the arrest of two male suspects identified as Shaibu Mohammadu (30) and Ja’o Bawa (31), both of various addresses.

Items recovered from the suspects include one locally fabricated revolver assault rifle, two mobile handsets, charms, and other incriminating materials, all of which have been secured as exhibits.
Police sources revealed that preliminary investigations show that the suspects are actively linked to a series of kidnapping operations within Song and neighbouring communities, spreading fear among residents and disrupting peaceful coexistence.
Following their arrest, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities, while efforts have been intensified to track down and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are currently on the run.
Commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), praised the professionalism of the officers involved and the strong collaboration between the police and the local community, describing it as a vital pillar in the fight against crime.
The Police Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to flushing out criminal elements from every part of the state and restoring lasting peace.
He further urged members of the public to continue to support security agencies by providing timely, credible, and actionable information, assuring that all arrested suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated that it remains resolute in ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
