Retired DSS Director Becomes Chief Administrative Pillar of Ganye chiefdom

The ancient Ganye Kingdom is set to enter a new phase of administrative strength and institutional continuity as His Royal Highness, the Gangwari of Ganye, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda, OON, FIAMN, formally appoints and installs Alhaji Hamidu Abbo, as the Wazirin Ganye—the highest palace official and principal administrative authority directly under the Gangwari.
The historic installation ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 7th February 2026, an occasion expected to attract an array of distinguished guests, including traditional rulers, senior government functionaries, security chiefs, technocrats and respected community leaders from within and outside Adamawa State.

The office of the Wazirin Ganye occupies a strategic position within the traditional governance structure of the Chiefdom, serving as the chief adviser, administrative coordinator and institutional bridge between the Gangwari and the wider traditional council. The appointment of Alhaji Hamidu Abbo to this exalted office underscores a deliberate choice anchored on experience, discipline and tested leadership.
A retired Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhaji Hamidu Abbo brings to the palace decades of distinguished service within Nigeria’s security and intelligence architecture. Renowned for his professionalism, strategic insight and unwavering loyalty to the Nigerian state, he rose through the ranks with an impeccable record that earned him respect across institutional and regional lines.
Palace sources describe the appointment as a strategic strengthening of the Ganye Chiefdom’s administrative backbone, noting that the Waziri’s office is pivotal to policy coordination, palace administration, conflict resolution and the effective implementation of royal directives.
Beyond his illustrious public service career, Alhaji Hamidu Abbo is widely regarded as a man of humility, deep wisdom and strong community orientation—qualities considered indispensable for the sensitive and demanding responsibilities of the Waziri’s office.
