Southern Kaduna Under Siege: Terrorists Kill Two, Abduct 32 Including Aged Woman, Children In Fresh Wave Of Attacks

Terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, have unleashed another deadly wave of violence across Southern Kaduna, killing at least two residents and abducting no fewer than 32 people, including an elderly woman and several children, in coordinated attacks spanning three local government areas.
In a particularly harrowing incident, the assailants on Monday night stormed Arak village in Sanga Local Government Area, kidnapping an elderly woman, Mrs. Averik Arak, and her granddaughter—barely 48 hours after they murdered her son and another villager in the same community.
The woman’s son, Habila Averik, was reportedly killed on Saturday during an earlier attack. Disturbingly, Mrs. Arak was said to be ill and still mourning her son, who was killed in her presence, when the terrorists returned to strike again. Reports indicate that the attackers showed no mercy, abducting her despite her frail condition.
The violence was not limited to Sanga. In Kajuru Local Government Area, terrorists raided Unguwan Sarki Maro, abducting 15 villagers, most of them children and minors, during a late-night invasion that threw the community into chaos.
Similarly, in Kadage village, Kauru Local Government Area, bandits kidnapped about 16 residents and killed one person during another brutal assault.
A resident of Kadage village revealed that the situation has reached alarming levels, disclosing that over 100 people from seven surrounding villages in Kauru Local Government Area have been abducted by bandits between December 1, 2025, and January 4, 2026 alone.
“Our people are suffering in silence. More than 100 of our kinsmen are in captivity, yet there is a dangerous media blackout on what is happening here,” the source lamented, adding that a detailed breakdown of the abductees would be provided.
The renewed bloodshed comes amid a pattern of escalating attacks across Southern Kaduna. SaharaReporters had earlier reported a deadly overnight assault in Kachia town, where bandits killed four members of a single family.
The victims were identified as Mr. Bitrus Bahago, his wife Mrs. Justina Bitrus Bahago, their son Ibrahim Bitrus Bahago, and a relative, Adam Waziri. The attack reportedly occurred late Friday night near the newly established Federal University of Applied Science, in the headquarters of Kachia Local Government Area.
Confirming the tragedy, a family member said:
“They were all killed by the bandits.”
According to residents, the attackers arrived in large numbers, firing sporadically and leaving several others injured. The wounded were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Residents of Kachia described the attack as terrifying, expressing shock that such carnage could occur despite the town’s proximity to major institutions and security formations.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the spate of attacks.
Southern Kaduna has for years remained a hotbed of violent banditry and gunmen attacks, with residents repeatedly appealing to both the federal and state governments to take decisive action, reinforce security, and protect vulnerable rural communities now living under constant fear.
