HARRIS BLASTS TRUMP OVER VENEZUELA STRIKES, CALLS MILITARY ACTION ‘UNLAWFUL, UNWISE’

Former United States Vice President, Kamala Harris, has launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump’s military intervention in Venezuela, describing the operation as “unlawful, unwise, and dangerously reckless,” warning that it threatens regional stability while offering no benefit to the American people.
In a strongly worded statement released Sunday via X (formerly Twitter), Harris condemned the U.S. military strikes and the dramatic capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, insisting the action neither advances America’s security interests nor strengthens its economy.
“Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable,” Harris declared.
While acknowledging Venezuela’s long-running political and humanitarian crisis, Harris stressed that such challenges do not justify unilateral military force.
“That Maduro is a brutal and illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before,” she said, drawing parallels to past U.S.-led foreign interventions that ended in turmoil.
Harris warned against what she described as a familiar and dangerous pattern—foreign wars marketed as strength but ending in instability.
“Wars for regime change or oil are sold as toughness, but they leave chaos behind, and American families are the ones who ultimately pay the price,” she cautioned.
She further accused the Trump administration of lacking both public mandate and transparency in justifying the operation.
“The American people do not want this. They are tired of being lied to,” Harris asserted.
In one of her sharpest criticisms, Harris alleged that the intervention was driven by economic and personal ambitions rather than democratic values.
“This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman,” she said.
She also pointed to what she called glaring contradictions in Trump’s approach to law enforcement and Venezuelan opposition politics.
“If he truly cared about the rule of law, he wouldn’t pardon convicted drug traffickers or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while cutting deals with Maduro’s cronies,” Harris added.
Raising alarm over the broader implications, Harris warned that the operation places U.S. troops and taxpayers at grave risk without a clear plan.
“The President is endangering American troops, spending billions of dollars, destabilising an entire region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no tangible benefit at home,” she said.
Harris concluded with a call for a fundamental shift in U.S. leadership priorities.
“America needs leadership focused on lowering the cost of living for working families, enforcing the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and—above all—putting the American people first,” she stated.
The statement has further intensified debate in Washington and beyond, as global attention remains fixed on the unfolding crisis in Venezuela and its far-reaching geopolitical consequences.
