JUST IN: APC Unveils High-Stakes 2025/2026 Congress Timetable, Sets March Date for National Convention

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally rolled out a comprehensive timetable for its nationwide ward, local government, state, zonal congresses, culminating in a crucial national convention for the 2025/2026 political cycle—setting the stage for an intense internal power contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the schedule released Tuesday morning, the APC announced that the process will kick off with a nationwide electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise, signaling a major push to expand and sanitize its membership base across the country.

According to the timetable, the e-registration will commence on December 1, 2025, and run through January 30, 2026, providing party members and new entrants ample time to enroll ahead of the congresses.

The party disclosed that ward congresses will hold nationwide on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, followed closely by local government congresses on Friday, February 20, 2026. The crucial state congresses, expected to shape the political direction of the party in the states, are slated for Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Further tightening the countdown, the APC said zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, paving the way for the party’s much-anticipated national convention, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The timetable clearly outlines a sequential roadmap for the election of party executives at all levels—ward, local government, state, zonal, and national—a process widely seen as critical to consolidating control ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Political watchers say the congresses are likely to be fiercely contested, as emerging alliances and power blocs battle for dominance within the ruling party.

The APC leadership assured members and stakeholders that detailed guidelines governing the conduct of the congresses and the national convention will be released in the coming weeks, urging strict adherence to party rules and internal democracy.

As the countdown begins, all eyes are now on the APC’s internal political machinery—one that could significantly shape Nigeria’s political landscape heading into 2027.
