Yola — In a bold blend of fiscal vision and festive cheer, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Thursday presented a ₦583.33 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Adamawa State House of Assembly, while announcing a free one-month basic salary bonus for civil servants to cushion the Yuletide season.

The budget, christened the “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Economic Renewal,” underscores the administration’s resolve to deepen infrastructure development, expand social services, and stimulate inclusive economic growth amid prevailing economic headwinds.

Addressing lawmakers, Governor Fintiri stressed that the proposal is realistic, people-centred, and revenue-driven, noting that every allocation aligns with the state’s development priorities and fiscal capacity. He highlighted sustained investments in education, healthcare, road networks, water supply, and job-creating sectors, while pledging strict prudence and accountability in public spending.

In a move that drew applause across the state, the governor also announced a special Christmas package for Adamawa workers—a free one-month basic salary for all civil servants. The gesture, he said, is aimed at easing economic pressure on families and ensuring workers celebrate the festive season “with dignity and peace of mind.”

“This administration recognises the sacrifices of our workers. This bonus is a token of appreciation and a reaffirmation of our commitment to their welfare,” Fintiri declared.

The announcement has sparked widespread commendation from labour leaders and residents, who described it as a timely relief and a clear signal of a government that prioritises people alongside projects.

As the Assembly begins scrutiny of the budget, expectations are high that the 2026 fiscal plan—backed by a rare Christmas windfall for workers—will further entrench Adamawa’s path toward stability, growth, and shared prosperity.
