The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally dispatched expulsion certificates to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and a host of other prominent chieftains, sealing their exit from the party in what officials describe as a decisive step to restore order, discipline and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, shortly after a high-stakes meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to Turaki, the sanctions—which were initially pronounced at the historic PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025—have now been fully ratified by the NWC, paving the way for the official issuance of expulsion certificates delivered to the affected members via courier.
He said the move underscores the party’s resolve to clamp down on internal sabotage, enforce discipline without fear or favour, and strengthen its political machinery ahead of the next election cycle.
“The individuals in question have been expelled. They remain expelled. We have now certified their expulsion, and these certificates have been sent to them,” Turaki declared firmly.
Turaki listed the expelled chieftains to include Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih, stressing that they no longer hold any association with the PDP.
In a stern warning, the chairman cautioned the public and political actors against transacting any form of political business with the expelled members under the banner of the PDP.
“Very soon, society will be duly informed through proper disclaimers that anyone who carries out political dealings with them in the name of the PDP does so entirely at his or her own risk,” he said.
Turaki also confirmed that the NWC reviewed the party’s ongoing legal battles, including litigations surrounding the closure of its offices at Legacy House and Wadata Plaza. He expressed confidence in the competence and preparedness of the PDP legal team, noting that the party is fully equipped to tackle every challenge head-on.
As the PDP intensifies its restructuring drive, political observers say the latest expulsions signal the party’s determination to reassert authority, cleanse its ranks, and reposition itself as a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027.
