Terror Returns to Katsina: Bandits Kill Pregnant Woman, Three Others in Midnight Attack — 10 Abducted Despite Peace Pact

Bandits have once again unleashed terror in Katsina State, brutally attacking Gidan Dan Yaya community in Kankara Local Government Area, killing four residents, including a pregnant woman, and abducting at least ten others in a chilling overnight assault.

The deadly attack, which occurred on Sunday night, left the quiet community in ruins, with homes burned and survivors recounting horrifying scenes of bloodshed and chaos. One resident was said to have sustained serious injuries during the rampage.

According to reports shared by a concerned Katsina resident and X user, @DanKatsina50, the assault came only days after Kankara Local Government entered a peace pact with the bandits — a deal now being questioned for its effectiveness and wisdom.

> “Kankara LGA recently signed a peace deal with bandits, yet they’ve struck again. These so-called pacts only embolden them,” the source lamented.

The tragedy has ignited outrage and renewed fears among residents who now view such “peace deals” as fragile truces that merely buy time for armed groups to regroup and strike again.

In a related development, bandits also invaded Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting five women, including four nursing mothers, in another night raid that spread panic across the region.

The same X user warned that Katsina’s peace pacts might be displacing criminal gangs into neighbouring states, calling for stronger inter-state collaboration to curb the growing menace.

> “Kano State must urgently coordinate with the Katsina Government and reinforce frontline security, or risk the so-called peace deals in Katsina crippling Kano’s security,” he cautioned.

The spate of coordinated attacks across North-West Nigeria underscores the deteriorating security situation in rural communities — where residents, weary of broken promises and failed negotiations, now live under the constant shadow of terror.
