“Give Us Seven Days, We’ll Wipe Out Terrorists” — Hunters Tell Tinubu

Traditional hunters offer spiritual solution to Nigeria’s insecurity as Pastor Adeboye issues 90-day ultimatum to security chiefs

In a dramatic appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of the Soludero Hunters Association, Oba Nureni Lasisi, has declared that traditional hunters and spiritualists can eradicate terrorists across Nigeria within just seven days — if granted official approval by the Federal Government.

The monarch, known for his grassroots influence in Yoruba land, said the hunters are fully prepared to take the battle to the terrorists’ hideouts using indigenous spiritual warfare. According to him, the process would begin with consultations of Ifa and other sacred oracles, followed by libations, invocation of ancestral powers, and deployment of potent charms to disarm and neutralise insurgents.

> “If the government permits us, we will enter the forests, perform the necessary spiritual rites, and in seven days, Nigeria will know peace,” Oba Lasisi assured, stressing that native intelligence and traditional spirituality remain Nigeria’s untapped arsenal against terrorism.

He accused political leaders of sidelining proven local security systems while relying solely on Western-style interventions that have yielded limited success.

> “Our communities have their own ways of solving problems. If political bottlenecks are removed and we are allowed to act, the killings will stop,” he added.

Oba Lasisi identified Boko Haram and Fulani jihadists as key targets of the proposed spiritual operation, warning that without the green light from the government, Nigeria risks endless bloodshed and insecurity.

However, security analysts and human rights experts have urged caution, warning that such traditional interventions, though culturally significant, cannot replace structured military operations, intelligence gathering, and the rule of law. They fear that unsupervised actions could lead to human rights abuses or vigilante excesses.

Meanwhile, at the Redemption City of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, respected cleric Pastor Enoch Adeboye called for renewed diplomatic efforts with the United States, but urged President Tinubu to order security chiefs to eliminate terrorists and their financiers within 90 days—or resign if they fail.

The twin proposals — a seven-day spiritual cleansing campaign and a 90-day military ultimatum — mirror the rising frustration of Nigerians over unending insecurity. While supporters hail both calls as bold and patriotic, critics insist that the fight against terrorism must be strategic, coordinated, and accountable, not mystical.

As the nation waits for the presidency’s response, one thing is clear: Nigeria’s war on terror is now as spiritual as it is political.
