Turkish football analyst Ahmet Çakar has advised Galatasaray to consider selling Victor Osimhen should the club receive an extraordinary bid in the region of €200 million, warning that no player should be deemed untouchable in modern football.
Speaking in an interview with GsGazette, the seasoned football commentator emphasised that while Osimhen’s influence on the Turkish champions is undeniable, business sense must prevail if a world-record offer emerges.
> “If any European team offers €200 million for Osimhen, Galatasaray should sell him,” Çakar stated. “If they don’t, they’re fools. But knowing Osimhen, he may not even leave. He turned down twice the salary in Saudi Arabia because he loves Galatasaray — he’s like Metin Oktay in spirit.”
Osimhen, 26, has made an explosive start to life in Turkey, quickly becoming the face of Galatasaray’s new project. The Super Eagles forward, who reportedly earns around €21 million annually, rejected multiple offers from Saudi Arabian clubs during the summer transfer window, opting instead to pursue continental glory in Europe.
The Nigerian striker currently leads the UEFA Champions League scoring chart with six goals in three matches, drawing the attention of several top European clubs, including Barcelona, who are said to be eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, expected to leave the Camp Nou next summer.
Despite mounting speculation, insiders at Galatasaray have maintained that the player remains fully committed to the club’s ambitions. However, Çakar’s remarks have sparked fresh debate among supporters and analysts alike over whether the club should prioritise financial prudence or sporting continuity.
For now, Galatasaray’s faithful can only hope their talisman remains focused on the task ahead — guiding the Turkish champions deeper into Europe’s elite competition. But should a nine-figure bid land on the club’s desk, even Osimhen’s passion for Galatasaray might face its sternest test yet.
