“ENOUGH TALK, TIME FOR ACTION!” — SOWORE CALLS FOR MASS MARCH TO ASO ROCK OVER NNAMDI KANU’S DETENTION

Human Rights Activist Vows to Unite Political Foes, Challenges Southeast Leaders, Peter Obi, Soludo, Others to Join Peaceful March for Kanu’s Freedom

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has stirred the political scene with a bold call for a massive peaceful march to Aso Rock Villa in demand for the immediate release of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a powerful post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Sowore declared that he is ready to set aside political differences with anyone for a single cause — freedom and justice for Nnamdi Kanu.

> “I will set aside my differences with some politicians for one cause,” Sowore wrote. “I challenge every politician or person of good conscience from the Southeast who says they want @NnamdiKanu released to stop the rhetoric. Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa.”

Sowore urged every Nigerian who believes in justice — from governors, senators, House of Representatives members, traditional rulers, priests, and ordinary citizens — to rise beyond mere words and join him in a united, peaceful demonstration.

> “No more empty noise,” he emphasized. “Let @CCSoludo, @SenatorAbaribe, @alexottiofr, @PeterObi, and all others who claim to care step up and join us in person. We go together peacefully, legally, and visibly to demand justice and an end to MNK’s persecution.”

The activist’s statement has since generated waves of reactions across social media, with many applauding his courage and others questioning whether Southeast political elites will indeed stand up and join the march.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been in detention since 2021 after being re-arrested and extradited to Nigeria. Despite multiple court rulings ordering his release, the Federal Government has continued to hold him, sparking widespread criticism from rights groups and international observers.

Sowore’s latest declaration is seen as a rallying cry for national conscience and unity — a direct challenge to Nigeria’s political class to match their words with deeds.

As the call for a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow march gains traction online, all eyes are now on Southeast leaders — and indeed, on Aso Rock Villa — to see how the government and political establishment will respond.
