Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians, particularly civil servants, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is fully committed to improving the welfare of workers and building a more supportive and productive environment across the country.
Speaking in an interview on Viable TV, Akpabio reflected on Nigeria’s journey over the past 65 years, describing the nation’s resilience through civil war, insecurity, and economic hardship as a testament to divine grace rather than mere human effort.
> “The minimum wage has been increased,” Akpabio declared, emphasizing that the federal government is not only raising workers’ pay but also focusing on improving the conditions under which they work.
He said the ongoing reforms are designed to motivate public servants, strengthen the economy, and ultimately improve the quality of life for every Nigerian.
The Senate President further revealed that as part of the administration’s tax reforms, individuals earning less than one million naira annually are now exempted from paying taxes — a move that has brought relief to low-income earners, including market women, artisans, and small-scale entrepreneurs.
Akpabio also applauded significant strides in education funding, healthcare access, and infrastructural development, noting that the government’s renewed focus on these key sectors reflects its determination to rebuild trust and deliver tangible results.
On national security, he commended the unwavering commitment of Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies, stressing that despite global terrorism trends, the country has remained united and resolute in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
He added that the federal government’s investments in roads, telecommunications, agriculture, and power infrastructure are expected to stimulate job creation, boost productivity, and attract foreign investment.
Concluding, Akpabio appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and optimistic, assuring them that the reforms being implemented may take time but are laying the foundation for a more prosperous, equitable, and stable nation.
> “We are building a country where hard work will be rewarded, where every citizen will have a fair chance at success. The best is yet to come for Nigeria,” he said confidently.
