JUST IN: Customs Service Sets October 9 for Online Recruitment Exam — Shortlisted Candidates Divided Into Batches A, B, C

Over 100,000 applicants to participate as NCS moves to strengthen workforce, warns against malpractice and multiple logins.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially announced that the main online recruitment examination for shortlisted candidates in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will be conducted on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

The announcement, made via the Service’s verified digital platforms on Tuesday, marks a crucial phase in the NCS 2025 recruitment exercise aimed at bolstering the agency’s manpower and enhancing operational efficiency across its commands nationwide.

According to the notice, all shortlisted candidates have been grouped into three batches — A, B, and C — and are required to log in to the official recruitment portal, https://updates.customs.gov.ng, using their National Identification Number (NIN) to confirm their batch, date, and examination time.

> “The Main Online Recruitment Examination for all shortlisted Inspectorate and Customs Assistant Cadre applicants has been scheduled for Thursday, 9th October 2025,” the Service stated.

The NCS emphasized that strict adherence to assigned batches and time slots was mandatory, cautioning that failure to comply could lead to automatic disqualification.

In addition, candidates have been warned against the use of calculators, mobile phones, or any other electronic devices during the exam. The Service further cautioned against multiple logins, switching browser tabs, or attempts to manipulate the system, warning that such actions would be treated as examination malpractice and lead to disqualification.

Clarifying the scope of the exercise, the Customs Service explained that the ongoing examination is exclusive to applicants in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres, while those in the Superintendent cadre will participate in subsequent phases of the recruitment process.

> “Only Inspectorate and Customs Assistant Cadre applicants are to take part in this stage of the examination. Applicants of the Superintendent Cadre are not to participate at this stage,” the statement added.

The NCS reaffirmed that the recruitment exercise forms part of its broader reform and modernization agenda, designed to strengthen border security, boost trade facilitation, and ensure efficiency in customs operations nationwide.

With the exam date now confirmed, shortlisted candidates have been urged to prepare diligently and adhere strictly to examination guidelines, as the Service pledges to ensure a transparent, fair, and merit-driven process.
