BREAKING: NNPCL Hikes Fuel Price To ₦905 Per Litre — Cites Supply Disruption Amid Dangote, PENGASSAN Feud

In yet another twist to Nigeria’s recurring fuel price saga, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦905 per litre.

Findings by DAILY POST on Monday revealed that NNPCL retail stations in Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4, Abuja, quietly adjusted their fuel price boards from ₦890 to ₦905, marking a ₦15 increase, or roughly a 1.7 per cent hike.

The move has sparked fresh concern among motorists already battling the ripple effects of inflation, transportation costs, and a weakening naira.

According to Abubakar Maigandi, President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), the adjustment was triggered by disruptions in the fuel supply chain caused by the ongoing rift between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.

> “It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, our members are still dispensing fuel between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” Maigandi said.

The dispute, which erupted over the alleged mass sack of Nigerian workers at the Dangote Refinery, led PENGASSAN to embark on a two-day strike action, halting key supply and distribution operations across the downstream sector.

Though the Federal Government swiftly intervened, resulting in the suspension of the strike, the short-lived industrial action left its mark, straining logistics and pushing prices upward.

With the latest adjustment, analysts warn that the increase could further intensify public frustration, especially as the government continues to face mounting criticism over rising living costs and the lingering effects of fuel subsidy removal.

As at press time, queues have begun re-emerging in parts of Abuja, Lagos, and Kano, fueling fears of another round of scarcity unless the government takes immediate steps to stabilize supply.
