Plateau on Lockdown: Gov Mutfwang Orders Closure of Major Roads as President Tinubu Storms Jos for High-Profile Burial

Jos, Plateau State — The Plateau State Government has announced sweeping traffic restrictions across parts of Jos and Bukuru ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s high-profile visit to the state on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

In a statement on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Joyce Ramnap, disclosed that Governor Caleb Mutfwang approved the closure of major roads to ease movement and ensure a hitch-free visit by the President, who is expected to attend the burial of Nana Lydia Yilwada, the late mother of Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ramnap emphasized that the measures were imperative for security, smooth traffic management, and the seamless movement of the Presidential entourage during the event.

She urged motorists to take alternative routes from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and appealed to residents for maximum cooperation, patience, and understanding as Plateau plays host to the Commander-in-Chief.

The visit is expected to attract heavy political, security, and social attention as Tinubu joins key stakeholders, dignitaries, and sympathizers in honoring the late matriarch.
