TINUBU’S LUXURY VS COLLAPSED ECONOMY: “You Bought ₦150bn Jet, Ride Cadillac Beast While Nigerians Suffer” – Okonkwo Fires Back

The political atmosphere heated up on Thursday as veteran lawyer and actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, took a fiery swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his claim of inheriting a “near collapsed economy.”

Speaking in a video interview with Symfoni TV, Okonkwo lambasted the president’s alleged extravagant lifestyle, questioning the sincerity of his lamentation about the nation’s economic woes.

According to him, while ordinary Nigerians are battling with inflation, hunger, and hardship, Tinubu reportedly purchased a private jet worth ₦150 billion and cruises around in the ultra-expensive Cadillac Beast – a vehicle synonymous with American presidents.

Okonkwo wondered how Tinubu could declare that he inherited an almost collapsed economy, yet indulge in such ostentatious spending. He argued that no past Nigerian leader had splurged so heavily on luxury while citizens languished in poverty.

> “You are saying you inherited a near collapsed economy, yet you are buying a ₦150 billion private jet and driving around in the Cadillac Beast. Please, did your predecessors ride such cars or fly in such planes? This kind of wasteful spending is exactly what is killing our economy. Sir, you did not inherit a near collapsed economy; you are collapsing it yourself through profligacy,” Okonkwo declared.

His remarks have stirred fresh debate among Nigerians, many of whom accuse the current administration of being disconnected from the harsh realities citizens face. While Tinubu insists tough reforms are necessary to rescue the economy, critics argue that his spending habits tell a different story.

With rising fuel prices, a weakening naira, and worsening unemployment, Okonkwo’s scathing comments may have amplified the frustrations of millions who feel the promised “renewed hope” is fast turning into renewed hardship.
