The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actor, Mr. Michael, who passed away on Tuesday after a long battle with deteriorating health.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Thursday by his colleague and filmmaker, Stanleyontop, who described his passing as “a huge loss to the industry.”
Michael had been out of the limelight for years due to severe health complications that tragically led to the amputation of one of his legs. In a desperate bid for survival, he made a public appeal for medical support and a prosthetic limb, drawing widespread sympathy from fans and colleagues alike.
Despite his condition, Michael remained hopeful and, in 2024, openly pleaded with producers to keep casting him in movies, insisting that his passion for the craft remained undimmed. In 2022, he received a lifeline from renowned cleric Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, who donated ₦5 million to aid his treatment. Sadly, his health continued to decline.
Michael’s illustrious career spanned decades, with notable appearances in hit Nollywood classics such as Midnight Love (2003) and The Guilty (2006), where his talent and screen presence earned him admiration from fans across Nigeria and beyond.
His death has left the Nollywood family and fans devastated, marking the end of an era for one of the industry’s cherished stars.
