“Only Unity Can Save ADC From Implosion, Defeat APC in 2027 – Lukman Warns El-Rufai, Party Bigwigs”

ABUJA – A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Lukman, has issued a stern warning to party stakeholders, cautioning that the ADC risks self-destruction if its leaders continue to engage in bitter power struggles ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Lukman appealed directly to former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, alongside other influential figures, Jaafaru Sani and Bashir Saidu, to resist the temptation of backing candidates bent on hijacking the party’s structures for selfish ambitions.

According to him, the party is already showing signs of implosion following the controversial push to remove former Senate President David Mark as the national chairman, a move that has deepened cracks within the ADC leadership.

> “Instead of building the ADC into a formidable opposition, we are degenerating into a party obsessed with structures and personal ambition. The madness of controlling ADC platforms is the biggest threat before us,” Lukman lamented.

He warned that the same unhealthy power tussle that consumed other political parties could cripple the ADC before it even has a chance to challenge the ruling APC in 2027.

> “If ADC must emerge as a credible force capable of defeating APC in Kaduna and beyond, unity is not optional — it is the only lifeline. We must bury selfish ambitions and embrace collective leadership,” he declared.

Lukman emphasized that defeating the APC should not merely be about electoral victory but about restoring governance built on inclusivity, accountability, and people-oriented leadership.

> “We must end the era of producing emperors as governors. If we remain divided, ADC will simply become another platform for power-hungry politicians, not a movement for the people,” he added.
The ADC, founded in 2016, has been repositioning itself as a major opposition platform, with high-profile political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President David Mark pushing for a united front to wrestle power from the APC in 2027.

Lukman’s fiery appeal, however, underscores the party’s biggest internal challenge: whether its leaders can rise above personal interests and deliver the unity required to turn ADC into a true alternative for Nigerians.
