The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has stirred renewed reflections on the mystery of divine election after recalling a rare and profound testimony about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola — the fiery revivalist and founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).
Preaching in a recent YouTube sermon, Enenche drew from the words of the late Reverend S.A. Sadela, the renowned church elder who lived to the remarkable age of 114, to underscore the sovereignty of God in choosing His vessels.
According to Rev. Sadela’s account, many of Apostle Babalola’s contemporaries believed themselves more righteous, disciplined, or even better qualified for spiritual leadership. Yet, God’s hand rested mightily on Babalola, setting him apart for an extraordinary mission that birthed one of Nigeria’s greatest revival movements.
Quoting Rev. Sadela, Enenche declared:
> “In all your perfection, God saw you and rejected you, but anointed him. You are so perfect, yet what God gave him, He didn’t give you. You are so perfect, yet He gave him a generation to disciple — and avoided you.”
Expounding on these words, Enenche warned believers against the dangerous temptation of criticizing or despising God’s anointed. He explained that rejection by God often reveals hidden flaws, invisible to men but glaring before Heaven, making such individuals unfit for divine assignments.
> “When God sees you and avoids you, it means there is something inside you that could be very terrible. God must never make the mistake of placing anything substantial on such a life,” Enenche emphasized.
The fiery preacher lamented that in today’s generation, dishonor towards spiritual fathers has become commonplace — a trend he described as both spiritually destructive and a barrier to accessing divine grace.
“Respect is the pathway to dignity, honor, and power,” he reminded, insisting that reverence for God’s chosen vessels remains a non-negotiable key for anyone seeking lasting relevance in divine purpose.
Enenche concluded with a sobering call to Christians: “Do not despise those carrying God’s oil. Submission and honor are safeguards against rejection and the gateway to impartation.”
With this reminder, Enenche reawakened the lessons of history — that greatness in the Kingdom is never about perfection, but about God’s sovereign choice, and the humility of men to recognize and honor it.
