SAD LOSS IN BAUCHI: DAMBAM LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN, YAKUBU GARBA TELA, DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

Bauchi State was thrown into mourning on Saturday following the sudden death of the Chairman of Dambam Local Government Council, Yakubu Garba Tela, who passed away after a brief illness.

The news of his demise was confirmed in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed, sparking an outpouring of grief across the state.

Governor Mohammed described the late council boss as “a rare gem, a dedicated public servant, and an unwavering grassroots mobiliser who dedicated his entire life to uplifting the lives of his people and advancing the development of Dambam Local Government.”

He praised Tela’s humility, commitment to duty, and selfless contributions to governance at the local level, noting that his departure has left a huge vacuum in the state’s political and community leadership.

> “Yakubu Garba Tela will be fondly remembered for his honesty, accessibility, and the bridges of unity he built among his people. His legacy will continue to inspire the future of grassroots leadership in Bauchi State,” Governor Mohammed stated.

The governor prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him eternal rest, and console his family, associates, and the people of Dambam over the irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers for the late chairman are scheduled for today, Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Misau Central Mosque, where family, friends, political associates, and sympathisers are expected to gather in their numbers to pay their final respects.

Tela’s death has cast a shadow over Bauchi politics, with residents describing him as a “leader of the people” whose legacy of service and compassion will not be forgotten.
