Mysterious Skin Disease Emerges in Girei, Residents Appeal for Government Intervention

A new skin disease has been reported in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, raising concerns among residents and health authorities. The ailment, marked by the sudden appearance of rashes on the skin, has already affected several families in the community.

Community leader Salihu Shuaibu confirmed that he and members of his family were among those infected. He noted that while the situation has been brought under control in his case, urgent government action is needed to prevent further spread.

> “This disease came unexpectedly and affected some of us, including my family. Though we are recovering, the government must move quickly to contain it,” Shuaibu said.

A local health worker, who requested anonymity, also confirmed the outbreak. According to him, prompt medical attention has helped many patients recover, but preventive measures remain crucial. He linked the outbreak to flood-related contamination in the area.

> “We suspect the floods may have contributed to this outbreak. People should avoid sharing clothes, keep their environment clean, and ensure that the water they use daily is hygienic,” the health worker advised.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the Executive Secretary of the Girei Primary Healthcare Department were unsuccessful as calls and visits to his office went unanswered.

The development has left residents anxious, with renewed calls on both the state government and relevant health agencies to act swiftly before the disease spreads further across the region.
