Former Vice President and presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, has assured that the Yoruba race will enjoy special consideration in governance and policy direction should he emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku, who described the Yoruba people as his “extended family,” insisted that his administration would guarantee equity, justice, and fair representation for all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. He dismissed insinuations of possible Hausa/Fulani domination under his leadership, stressing that such fears were “baseless and unfounded.”
In a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Johnson, the former Vice President highlighted his marital ties to the Yoruba nation through his wife, Titi Atiku Abubakar, whom he fondly described as “a jewel of inestimable value” from Ijesa, Osun State. According to him, this bond reflects a deep connection and enduring commitment to the Yoruba people.
> “It is for this reason that I count myself extremely lucky indeed to have had a wife from amongst this noble specie of the human race. By this token, the bond uniting me with the Yoruba is as natural and strong as a genetic family tie,” Atiku declared.
“This is why the Yoruba, whether individually or collectively, have always occupied a special place in my heart. Their interests will, by the special Grace of Allah, take a topmost place in my governance if I become President in 2027.”
The former Vice President assured that his presidency would not only prioritize Yoruba interests but also create an inclusive government where no ethnic group would feel marginalized or dominated.
Atiku’s fresh pledge is seen by political observers as a strategic move to woo the Southwest—a region considered critical to electoral victory in 2027.
