Fubara Breaks Silence: Why I Rushed To Aso Villa After Rivers Emergency Rule Was Lifted

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has shed light on his recent visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, barely days after the Federal Government lifted the emergency rule imposed on Rivers State.

In a video released by Symfoni TV, Fubara disclosed that his trip to the Presidency was not political maneuvering but a show of respect to the nation’s leader and a necessary step to consolidate peace after weeks of political turbulence in Rivers.

“You’re aware that the suspension was lifted on the 17th midnight, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr. President to tell him that I’m back and that I have resumed my responsibility as the governor of Rivers State,” Fubara explained.

The governor described the meeting as a “father-and-son conversation,” emphasizing that his discussions with President Tinubu were cordial, centered on gratitude, guidance, and a renewed commitment to stability.

“It’s not much—it’s a father-son discussion, telling him thank you and seeking areas where he can guide me so that we don’t find ourselves in another situation that will bring crisis again,” he said.

Governor Fubara reassured Rivers people that peace has fully returned, stressing that his priority moving forward is governance, unity, and stability. He further vowed to work hand-in-hand with the Presidency to ensure that Rivers State never slides back into political unrest.

The governor’s remarks come amid heightened expectations from Rivers residents, who are eager to see his administration refocus on development after months of heated political battles.
